Registration Info 

You can either download the PDFs below and mail them into the office, along with the entry fee (please use a check made out to the “Veterans’ Service Commission,” no cash please), or come into the Veterans’ Service Office between the hours of 8:30 AM – 4 PM, Monday thru Friday, and register in person (please don’t forget to “sign” the forms).  Every participant must register before or on September 14th, 2023, in order to be a part of this 3rd annual event.

5K Event Location

The 5K event will be hosted at Veterans Park (a.k.a. Boy Scout Lake) which is located off of St. Rt. 309 right past Grove Cemetery.  We will be using the paved path that goes around the pond, shelter house, and close to 309 (please review the below map outlining the path that will we will be using).  The starting point and finish line is designated by the black star and line on the map.

Parking & Directions

Free parking is available at the park.  You may use any available space at the park, in fact, there is a parking lot in front of the large shelter house and a smaller one close to the pond, as an additional option with parking.

 

Participant Amenities 

All registered participants will receive a Veterans 5K t-shirt, #bib, free refreshments, and a chance to win a medal.  There will be veteran related literature available to everyone at the event.

There will also be a free lunch, at the large shelter house starting around 11:50 A.M., for all 5K participants and their household family members.  Elks Lodge #157 will be hosting this free dinner, at the shelter house.

Age Restrictions 

There are no age restrictions, however, if parents bring their toddlers and/or infants they must remain with them at all times (toddler is considered age 4 or less).

 

Safety on the Course

For the protection of all of the participants the following is not allowed during the 5K eventno bicycles, animals, scooters, inline skates, roller skates, and no wheeled vehicles, other than registered wheelchairs and/or strollers.

Bib Pick-Up

Bib pick-up will be held in front of the large shelter house (look for the American flag pop-up tent) starting at 9 AM; you will also be able to pick up your t-shirt at that time.  All bibs and t-shirts need to be pickup no later than 9:50 AM (10 minutes before start time).

 

Medal Rules

Medals will be presented to the top three places in each age group.  The 1st place medal will be given out to both a male and female participant.  However, for the second and third place medals they are gender neutral and will “only” be awarded to the person who comes in 2nd or 3rd place.  Therefore, in each age group there will be two 1st place winners (1 male & 1 female) and one second and third place winner regardless of gender.
